¿América Latina cree en el Desarrollo Sostenible? / Does Latin America believe in Sustainable Development?

El Presidente de Uruguay José Mujica se dirigió en una muy corta pero provocativa charla a los representantes de los 139 países presentes en la cumbre inaugurada de Rio +20 (Brasil). Algunas de sus afirmaciones son:

“Toda la tarde se ha estado hablando del Desarrollo Sostenible pero esta crisis que tenemos actualmente no es de caracter ambiental sino de caracter político … porque hemos creado una sociedad en la que el mercado (hijo de la competencia) nos gobierna. Somos nosotros los que tenemos que gobernar al mercado y no que el mercado nos gobierne.”

Ideas similares se promueven desde Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay y Argentina…

The President of Uruguay Jose Mujica addressed a very short but provocative speech to representatives from 139 countries attending the summit opened Rio +20 (Brazil). Some of his statements are:

“The whole afternoon it has been talking about sustainable development but this crisis we have today has not an environmental character but a political one  … because we have created a society in which the market forces (derived from competition) governs us. We are the ones who have to govern the market and not to allow that the market rule us.”

Similar ideas are promoted by Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay and Argentina…
